Sky guard Shay Murphy will be unavailable to the team until June 24 as she fulfills a contractual obligation with the Montenegro women’s national basketball team, Sky head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman announced today.

Murphy is expected to miss a total of five games: tonight’s home game vs. Tulsa, the June 10 game at New York, the June 13 home game vs. Seattle, the June 16 game at Indiana and the June 23 game at Minnesota.

“Obviously with an eleven player roster it’s tough when you have to have a player miss games because of prior obligations,” said Chatman. “I think this team has shown some resolve in sticking together, and that is what we intend to do in Shay’s absence.”

Murphy, who played in all five games with the Sky this season, has averaged 2.6 points and 1.0 assist per game in 10.4 minutes.

The Chicago Sky, currently 4-1, host the Tulsa Shock tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Allstate Arena.
