No. 20 Texas A&M (12-5, 3-1) never trailed Auburn in a 78-58 win at home on Sunday in front of 5,836 fans for their ninth straight home win. The Aggies began the game racing out to a 16-4 lead in the first seven minutes.

“I think we played a perfect first half.” said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. “We really did some things well. Their press didn’t bother us. We were shooting layups. This is the third game in a row that we have shot well over fifty percent in the first half.”

The Aggies shot over 40 percent from three-point range. They led 43-23 at the break. The Tigers scored eight straight points early in the second half to get within 14 but that was as close as they would get.

Four Texas A&M starters were in double figures led by Kelsey Bone with a game-high 19 points. She shot 7-for-13 and pulled down 10 rebounds. Kristi Bellock scored 13 points and added 10 rebounds. Courtney Walker scored 16 points to go along with six boards and three assists. Adrienne Pratcher contributed 11 points, five assists and two rebounds.

“Bone had to go up against a lot of size in there and she missed a few that she’s been making, but if you look at the numbers she’s having that magical year for us,” said Blair, “and her partner Bellock is just solid as can be.”

Hasina Muhammad led Auburn (13-4, 2-2) with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Tyrese Tanner added 15 points.

Texas A&M has a week off to prepare for its road trip to Athens to face off with Georgia. The Aggies are tied with Georgia and Vanderbilt for second place in the SEC.

Auburn will host Tennessee on Thursday night.
