Becky Hammon’s debut on the San Antonio Spurs’ bench begins in Germany

Becky Hammon’s debut on the San Antonio Spurs’ bench as an assistant begins overseas. The defending NBA champions will travel to Berlin, Germany to face Alba Berlin on Wednesday, Oct. 8 to open their seven-game 2014 preseason schedule.  In a rematch of last season’s NBA Finals, the Spurs will host the Miami Heat on Oct. 18 in their preseason home opener.

The Spurs preseason will begin overseas as part of the NBA Global Games schedule and includes a matchup against Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday, Oct. 11. The team will return to the states for a road game against the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 16 before facing the Heat on Oct. 18 at the AT&T Center.  The Spurs will also host preseason games against the Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks.

The teams concludes their preseason schedule on the road with a Texas showdown against the Houston Rockets on Friday, Oct. 24.

All preseason games will be aired live on WOAI-AM 1200 with Bill Schoening calling the action and preseason home games will be broadcast in Spanish on KCOR-AM 1300 with Paul Castro handling the play-by-play.

The Spurs announced the hiring the retiring Stars guard and WNBA legend, August 5, 2014.
