Two-game American Athletic-SEC Women’s Basketball challenge set for 2015

The American Athletic and the Southeastern Conference have announced the American-SEC Women’s Basketball Challenge. The two-game event will be held at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., site of the 2016 SEC tournament.

“The American Athletic Conference is pleased to announce this two game challenge with the SEC,” said Associate Commissioner Barbara Jacobs. “Our teams are looking forward to bringing the talent and intensity of The American to their fans in Jacksonville for what are sure to be outstanding matchups.”

“The SEC is pleased to partner with the American Athletic Conference to create a four-team event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, home of the 2016 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament,” said SEC Assistant Commissioner Leslie Claybrook. “This will be the first time for the state of Florida to host the conference’s women’s tournament and this event gives the SEC an opportunity to create two exciting non-conference games as well as get an early start in creating interest in the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament.”

The Knights of UCF will face the Florida Gators while the USF Bulls will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on December 30, 2015 in this one year event.

Times, ticket and television information for the American-SEC Challenge will be released as it becomes available.
