The Pac-12 Conference announced women’s basketball Players of the Week for the week of Nov. 16-22. UCLA’s Jordin Canada was voted the Pac-12 Player of the Week and Washington State’s Borislava Hristova was voted the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.

Sophomore guard Jordin Canada (Los Angeles, Calif.) had 21 points and dished out five assists in the near upset of No. 2 South Carolina, 68-65. The 2015 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, she also had six steals and was 7-for-10 from the free throw line. Earlier in the week, Canada scored 20 points and registered seven assists in a rout of James Madison, 90-61. Averaging 20.5 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game last week, she has tallied 20 or more points in each of her last four outings.

Freshman Borislava Hristova (Varna, Bulgaria) led the Cougars to a 3-0 week, averaging 19.7 points per game while shooting .558 from the floor. She netted 20 points in the 68-61 home win over Hampton becoming the first Cougar freshman to score 20 points in a game since two-time All-Pac-12 honoree Lia Galdeira in 2013. She bested her own career high in the 70-57 victory over Nevada, leading all scorers with 23 points. She closed out the weekend with a 16-point outing at Hawai’i, helping the Cougs to a 62-52 win.

It is Canada’s first-career weekly honor and UCLA’s 51st all-time weekly nod and WSU’s third freshman of the week honor all-time.

A player of the week has been selected every week since 1986-87, the first year the Conference sponsored women’s sports. A freshman of the week was first selected in 2012-13. The Pac-12 Player and Freshman of the Week are voted on by a panel of media that regularly cover Pac-12 women’s basketball.

UCLA travels to the Bahamas this week to take part in the Junkanoo Jam where it will face Louisiana Tech on Friday and either Denver or No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday. The Cougars host San Jose State on Friday after Thanksgiving then heads to Stillwater, Okla., for a matchup against Oklahoma State on Monday, Nov. 30.
