STANFORD, Calif. – No. 15 Stanford (7-2) won the 33rd game in its series against No. 14 Tennessee (7-3) Wednesday night at Maples Pavilion. Tennessee still holds the edge in the series, 24-10. While the Cardinal dominated the first three periods of the game, the Lady Vols staged a fourth quarter comeback, outscoring their opponent 25-21 in the last period, but it was not enough.

Junior guard Lili Thompson led Stanford with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Erica McCall had her seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore forward Kaylee Johnson was also in double figures with 10 points plus five rebounds. Freshman guard Marta Sniezek had a career high of nine points.

Sophomore guards Diamond DeShields and Jaime Nared paced Tennessee with 12 points each. Graves pulled down five rebonds while Nared finished with four. Senior forward Bashaara Graves was also in double figures with 10 points plus five rebounds. It was the first game of the season for Nared who missed action due to a broken left hand. She also started.

Tennessee continues its travels with a game at No. 7 Oregon State on Dec. 19. Stanford hosts Cornell on the same day.

Full recap to come.
