Seattle Storm signs forward Ramu Tokashiki to a multi-year deal

The Seattle Storm signed forward Ramu Tokashiki to a multi-year deal.

“Taku is a key building block for our future,” said Storm head coach Jenny Boucek. “Her combination of passion, athleticism, fearlessness and instinct for the game makes her a dynamic playmaker on both ends of the floor. The sky is the limit for Taku and we are extremely excited about her commitment to the Storm.”

Tokashiki posted season averages of 8.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in her WNBA debut season. She led the team in scoring four times and posted a single-game team high in blocks 17 of the 30 games she was available to play.

“I had such a great experience in Seattle last season and am very excited and proud to be a part of Storm Basketball moving forward,” said Tokashiki. “I can’t wait to get back to Seattle to start working towards a championship.”

Tokashiki plays overseas with JX-ENEOS and averaging team-highs in both points (18.5) and rebounds (8.8) this season. She led her team to the All-Japan title in early January.

Seattle opens its 2016 WNBA home slate at KeyArena on May 22 vs. defending WNBA Champions Minnesota Lynx.
