With a new coach on deck Vanderbilt 2016-17 non-conference schedule features Duke, Tulane, Louisville, Indiana

Under new head coach Stephanie White, Vanderbilt will face a competitive slate in 2016-17 that features Duke, Tulane, Louisville and Indiana.

Fans will get early looks at the team during exhibitions versus Bellarmine on Sunday, Oct. 30 and Union University on Sun. Nov. 6. The regular season begins Nov. 11 with an opener against Kennesaw State, another team with a new head coach (Agnus Berenato). The schedule also includes contests against in-state rivals Tennessee-Martin, East Tennessee State, Memphis and Tennessee Tech.

“We are excited about our non-conference schedule and the various challenges it contains,” said White. “We will be facing several high-quality opponents — including the games against Duke and Louisville at Memorial Gym — and we feel like we will have a great opportunity to grow as a team and prepare ourselves for conference play.”
The Commodores return roughly 70 percent of its scoring from last year’s team. The roster includes a six-member freshmen class that was ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation by one recruiting service.

“We are going to be a fun team to watch develop,” said White, “and we look forward to having enthusiastic crowds at our home games. The non-con schedule has a good variety, including some challenging road trips and several in-state rivalry games.”
