Guard Tayler Hill re-signs with Washington Mystics

Tayler Hill has re-signed with the Washington Mystics. The guard was selected by the franchise in the first round (fourth overall) in the 2013 WNBA Draft.

“Signing Tayler to a long-term contract was one of our biggest offseason priorities,” said head coach Mike Thibault. “Her game has taken a huge leap forward over the past two seasons. She has become a primary scorer both in transition and in the half court. She was among the league leaders in free throw attempts last year and we have seen her commitment to becoming a very good defender. Her quickness and length caused problems for a lot of guards last season. Lastly, she has embraced the idea of being a good leader on and off the court and will be important to the Mystics going forward.”

Hill, 5-10 guard from Ohio State University, was a candidate for the 2016 Most Improved Player of the Year. She doubled her productivity in all areas last season, setting career highs in points per game (15.4), rebounds per game (2.6) and assists per game (2.9).

“I am grateful to be back with the Mystics,” said Hill. “Coach T, the coaches and organization have always believed in me and I am super excited about this upcoming season. I look forward to playing in front of our great fans with great teammates.”

The Washington Mystics will open the season on Sunday, May 14, at 3:00 p.m. against the San Antonio Stars.
