Diana Taurasi fined for “making inappropriate contact with a game official” during Game 2 of Finals

From the WNBA:

“Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi has been fined $2,500 for making inappropriate contact with a game official, it was announced today by Bethany Donaphin, Head of WNBA League Operations.

The incident occurred with 5:52 remaining in the second quarter of Phoenix’s 91-86 win over the Chicago Sky on Oct. 13 at Footprint Center.”

According to the 2021 WNBA Rules Book regardig contact with an official:

Any player or coach guilty of intentional physical contact with an official shall automatically be suspended without pay for one game. A fine and/or longer period of suspension will result if circumstances so dictate.
