2025 WNBA All-Star Game Reserves Announced

The WNBA  announced the 12 reserves for the 2025 All-Star Game, scheduled for Saturday, July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Seattle Storm’s Skylar Diggins and Phoenix Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas headline the reserve selections, with Diggins ranking as the league’s fifth-leading active scorer and Thomas holding the career triple-doubles record.

Notable Selections

Among the reserves, four players earned their first All-Star selections: Washington Mystics rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, Golden State Valkyries’ Kayla Thornton, and Seattle’s Gabby Williams. Thornton’s selection is particularly remarkable as she becomes the second-most veteran player in league history to make their All-Star debut in their 10th season.

Los Angeles Sparks’ Kelsey Plum and Las Vegas Aces’ Jackie Young continue their impressive runs, selected as All-Stars for the fourth consecutive year. Other notable reserves include Atlanta Dream’s Rhyne Howard, Indiana Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell, Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese, and Minnesota Lynx’s Courtney Williams.

Selection Process and Draft

The reserves were chosen by the WNBA’s 13 head coaches, who voted for three guards, five frontcourt players, and four players at either position regardless of conference. Coaches could not vote for their own players.

All-Star captains Caitlin Clark of Indiana and Napheesa Collier of Minnesota, who earned captain roles by receiving the most fan votes among starters, will draft their rosters on Tuesday, July 8 during a special edition of WNBA Countdown on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Team Clark will be coached by Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve. Team Collier will be coached by Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello.

Additional Events

The All-Star Game will anchor three days of WNBA activities, including the 3-Point Contest and  Skills Challenge on Friday, July 18, both airing on ESPN beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The All-Star Game itself will be broadcast on ABC, Disney+, and ESPN+ at 8:30 p.m. ET.
