Kara Braxton signs multi-year deal with the Phoenix Mercury
“I’m very excited about signing this contract and staying in Phoenix,†said Braxton in a release. “This is a good place and a good situation to be in. I couldn’t ask for anything more than being on a winning team and with a franchise that accepts me and wants me to contribute to their success. For me to get this opportunity with this group of ladies is a dream come true.â€
“When we initially traded for Kara, we had every intention of keeping her in Phoenix long term,†said Mercury president and general manager Ann Meyers Drysdale. “The positive attributes she brings to this team have already been seen in her short time with us this season and she will only get better the more time she’s here playing in this system.â€
The Mercury acquired Braxton via a trade with the Tulsa Shock on July 23. Since joining the team, she has averaged 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in 11 games. In her Mercury home debut on July 29, Braxton scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in just 18 minutes of play.
