Griner Street: Mercury marketing campaign for Brittney Griner includes 77-foot banner and temporary street renaming

The Phoenix Mercury and the City of Phoenix unveiled a major marketing campaign celebrating the WNBA team’s selection of Brittney Griner as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft. The city and the Mercury teamed up to highlight Griner throughout downtown Phoenix.

In collaboration with the city, the Mercury temporarily renamed 1st Street, “Griner Street,” The signs at the intersection of Jefferson and 1st Street have been changed, and the street will be recognized as “Griner Street” until April 29.

Across the street, on the east side of CityScape’s Hotel Palomar building, the Mercury displayed a 77-foot banner of Griner featuring one of her highlight dunks. The banner will be displayed through June 10.
