UConn releases non-conference schedule, features Penn St., Cal, Maryland, Ohio St., Duke & Baylor

The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team released its non-conference schedule for the 2013-14 season. The schedule includes 13 games, including seven at home, four on the road and two at neutral sites.

The 2013-14 regular-season opener is scheduled for Saturday, November 9 when UConn plays host to Hartford. Next up for the Huskies is the annual showdown against Stanford two days later. The 2013-14 road opener is set for Friday, November 15 at Maryland. Connecticut will remain on the road to face Penn State on Sunday, November 17. The Oregon Ducks will fly into Connecticut on Wednesday, November 20 for a rematch of last year’s 95-51 UConn victory in Eugene.

Leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Huskies will compete against Boston University (11/22), Monmouth (11/23) and St. Bonaventure (11/24) as part of the 2013 Hall of Fame Classic. After a few days off for Thanksgiving, UConn will meet Ohio State in the fourth and final game of the Hall of Fame Classic on Sunday, December 1. UC Davis will make the trek to Connecticut on Thursday, December 5. UC Davis was 12-18 last year.

After an extensive break for final exams, UConn will travel to Durham, N.C. to square-off against Duke on Tuesday, December 17 in the Jimmy V Classic. The Huskies will next square-off against Cal, as part of the 2013 Maggie Dixon Classic, on Sunday, December 22. The non-conference slate will be rounded out on Monday, January 13 when the Huskies travel to Waco, Texas to take on the Baylor Lady Bears. Baylor was 34-2 last year and won the Big 12 Regular Season and Tournament Championships before being eliminated from the NCAA Tournament in a regional semifinal loss to Louisville.
