After a hiatus for the early part of 2015, the Dishin & Swishin podcasts are back on Hoopfeed, and we must say it is good to be back!

There is so much going on in the women’s basketball world, with the NCAA season hitting the stretch run and the WNBA beginning their preparations with free agency underway.

This week, it is time to talk a little WNBA with the veteran leader of the Connecticut Sun, Katie Douglas. Douglas was recently selected to join the Purdue University Hall of Fame, an honor well-earned during her illustrious career that culminated in an NCAA championship.

Her WNBA career led her to Orlando and on to Connecticut where she was a focal point of several successful Sun teams. Douglas returned to the state of Indiana as a member of the Fever, winning a WNBA championship, before returning to Connecticut last season.

Last season’s Sun team was young and inexperienced, and Douglas was a mentor to young talent like Chiney Ogwumike, Alex Bentley and Alyssa Thomas. Douglas started 32 of 34 games, averaging over thirteen points per game, before soreness in her back sent her to the bench at the end of the season.

Despite continued soreness and concerns about her back, Douglas returns this season looking to build on some of the success the Sun franchise had last year, including a midseason six-game winning streak, and several losses under five points. If only two or three of those close losses were wins, the Sun would have been a playoff team instead of in the lottery.

The addition of Camille Little will be another veteran to the mix, and the addition of Shekinna Stricklen in the same trade will give Douglas a little more time to rest her back as needed.

Other topics include Diana Taurasi and the overseas dilemma players face, former teammate Stephanie White taking over as Fever head coach, and more.

It is good to be back! Enjoy the podcast!
