Cal guard Mi’Cole Cayton to miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season after knee surgery

Release from Cal:

Cal redshirt junior guard Mi’Cole Cayton will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season after undergoing surgery to repair damaged cartilage in her right knee, head coach Charmin Smith announced on Thursday evening.

“Mi’Cole has had a challenging stretch of injury and our hearts go out to her,” said Smith. “However, anyone that knows Mi’Cole, knows that she’s a fighter and is approaching this setback with determination and a positive mindset. She’s committed to completing her degree and remains an important part of our program.”

Cayton appeared in three games for the Bears during the 2018-19 campaign before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. A Stockton, California native, Cayton was a Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention in 2017, but was sidelined for the majority of the 2017-18 season with an ACL injury.
