The Golden State Valkyries revealed their official court design, which will debut during the team’s first preseason game on May 6 against the Los Angeles Sparks. The floor features a striking chevron wood pattern inspired by the team’s “V” logo, symbolizing Valkyries united in flight. Trimmed in the team’s signature Valkyries Violet, the design embodies both the spirit and identity of the WNBA’s newest franchise.

Kimberly Veale, Valkyries Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, described the court as a “centerpiece of franchise-defining moments.” She added, “Our inaugural tip-off, our first game-winning buzzer-beater, the first standing ovation from a sold-out crowd—this court will witness it all.”

In a nod to the team’s historic launch, the court will also feature the Valkyries’ inaugural season crest displayed on the sideline at center court throughout the 2025 campaign.

As the team continues preparations for its inaugural season, the Valkyries made their first roster move Saturday by waiving rookie guard Shyanne Sellers. The 17th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Sellers was selected out of the University of Maryland following a standout collegiate career.

The Valkyries’ debut preseason game tips off May 6 at 7 p.m. PT against the Sparks at Chase Center. They’ll wrap up preseason play on the road against the Mercury on May 11 before hosting the Sparks again for their official WNBA season opener on May 16.

Corporate Rebrand for Golden State

Golden State, formerly known as GSW Sports LLC, has been unveiled as the corporate rebrand that encompasses the Golden State Warriors, Golden State Valkyries, Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State Entertainment, Thrive City, Chase Center, and other assets. In addition, the organization refreshed the Golden State app (formerly the Warriors + Chase Center app), Golden State Community Foundation (formerly Warriors Community Foundation), Golden State Shop (formerly Warriors Shop) and Golden State Sports Academy (formerly Warriors Basketball Academy) as each division expands with the launch of the Valkyries inaugural season.

“This rebrand is the natural next step in our continued business evolution from a sports franchise to a sports and entertainment company,” said Golden State Co-Executive Chairman and CEO Joe Lacob. “With the launch of the Golden State Valkyries this season and the growing recognition around Chase Center, Thrive City and our other exciting entities, including the Warriors, now is the perfect time to tie all of this together under one umbrella.”
