Coming off an exhibition win over the U.S. Senior Women’s National Team, the Oregon Ducks (1-0) enter the season at the top of the first Sport Tours International/Hoopfeed Top 25 Poll for the 2019-20 season, garnering all of the first-place votes.

With human highlight reel Sabrina Ionescu leading the way, the Ducks have a multitude of weapons including senior forwards Ruthy Hebard and Satou Saballoy, senior guard Minyon Moore and junior forward Erin Boley. However, Sabally is in Germany with her national team competing in 2020 FIBA EuroBasket qualifiers and won’t see action until the fourth game of the regular season. The Ducks downed Northeastern 89-47 Monday in their opener.

Baylor, Stanford, Connecticut and Texas A&M round out the top five. All of the top ten teams were successful during the first week of play except for No. 9 Maryland. The Terrapins fell at home Sunday to No. 6 South Carolina 63-54. South Carolina’s freshman class starred in the victory led by Aliyah Boston who scored 14 points, pulled down seven rebounds and blocked five shots.

Tennessee was another team that entered the season in impressive fashion. The Lady Vols, headed by new coach and alumna, Kellie Harper, dominated Notre Dame on a road trip for a 74-63 win. Tennessee debuts in this season’s poll at No. 20 while Notre Dame stands at No. 21.

Other teams that received votes: Michigan, Rice, Drake, Missouri State, Arizona, West Virginia, Minnesota, Gonzaga, and Harvard.
